Collecting fares involves more people than the passenger who pays. Drivers need a dependable way to receive the money for their work, and each handover of cash is a chance for a shortfall or a dispute. A digital fare system has to work for passengers and drivers on all kinds of phones, and it has to move money through a bank or mobile money provider, each with its own approval process and requirements.

Transport projects also tend to change hands. A system started by one developer can stall before launch, and the next team has to understand what exists, decide what to keep and take responsibility for getting it into operation, which is different work from starting fresh.

Businesses that deliver goods have their own version of the problem. Each delivery needs a price and a record, and staff need a way to confirm that the right person collected the right order.

ZoomPass was built for a transport client that wanted passengers to pay fares digitally and drivers to receive their money more easily. Another team built the first backend. We completed the remaining application work, coordinated the payment integration with GTBank, a provider we had not worked with before, and deployed the system. We built on the existing Laravel and MySQL code, which kept the work on what was missing.

For deliveries, the system we are building for SuperLovek prices each delivery and splits an order into one pickup or delivery per branch. Each pickup gets its own code and QR code, so staff can confirm the handover.

Where passengers or drivers use basic phones, USSD and SMS can carry the same journeys without an app.
